CISA launches new regulations on iron ore imports- 11 Apr 10

Xinhuainfolink reported that the China Iron and Steel Association and the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals and Chemicals Importers and Exporters passed 3 industrial self discipline documents, clarifying qualification, size, operation and pricing of iron ore importers.

Firstly, importers with less than 1 million tonne imports in 2009 will be disqualified.

Secondly, the industry will rigorously practice first grade agency system to ensure large and medium sized steel mills in line with national policy. Reselling will be prohibited. Those running counter to the self discipline pact will be deprived of their import qualifications.

Thirdly, CISA will set up a censorship for iron ore users. The General Administration of Customs will not register those contracts for importing inferior ore.
