Coke price may drop CNY 100 per tonne in June in China- 07 Jun 10

According to Mr Huang Jingan chairman of China''s Coke Industry Association in 2010 China Coal Supply Demand Conference & Imports and Exports Trade Fair always been squeezed by two ends that, China coke industry is said unlikely to see a turn around in the second half of the year.

He further predicted that the overall coke price in Jun would be lower by CNY 100 per tonne than in May.

Gloomy as it is, the forecast makes sense and will probably be true. Although there has been no formal announcement of coke guiding price from association of any province, either Shanxi or Shandong, coke producers in these provinces and Hebei as well are said to have lower their EXW prices of coke already.

Mr Feng Yunyi sales director of Tangshan Dafeng Coking Co Ltd in Hebei said they had already pushed coke price down by CNY 130 per tonne from a month ago. Person in charge of Shandong Coking Group also expressed that their coke price had dropped significantly since May.

Mr Huang also introduced that with such enormous coke capacity in the market, China needs no more coke, and the total output will fall back in the long run. By saying this he reminded China''s small coke producers especially independent ones to change their production line before the looming reality comes its way.
