Monday Market Monitor - EU - WEEK 45 - Decline on wavered- 16 Nov 10

FLAT
Flat product prices have been receding without any let up.
In the Italian market prices are under pressure across all products with particular emphasis on HDG and CRC.
An Italian steel major has decreased price of cold basis HDG down to EUR 500 per tonne to EUR 510 per tonne basis which is equivalent to an effective price of about Euro 610 per tonne for coating Z150 to Z200.
Profilers are bidding for HDG around EUR 560 per tonne CFR FO for usual spec of 0.55mm to 0.57 mm thickness in Z140 coating.
At the same time CRC from another steel mill in Ravenna is offered at prices barely above EUR 500 per tonne effective.
PPGI is following the general trend with prices going down by Euro 30 per tonne to EUR 50 per tonne amidst poor demand.
Over rolling HRC from North Europe Mills are reaching Italy and Spain at prices around EUR 430 to EUR 440 per tonne effective DDU, while some other North Europe Mills are selling HRC "rolled to thickness" at prices ranging EUR 380 per tonne to EUR 400 per tonne EXW.
LONG
Long products market continues to reel as consumption doesn't give any sign of improvements.
Prices of De-bars are around EUR 410 per tonne effective followed by Wire Rod that is transacted around same levels.
Beams prices remain suppressed with prices are edging down to the EUR 500 per tonne mark, which is a fall of almost EUR 100 per tonne from September levels.
